A well-designed landscape starts with selecting plants that complement your home while providing long-term beauty and manageable maintenance. For this project, we refreshed an landscape bed by removing ornamental grasses and aging plants before installing a new combination of colorful flowering shrubs, evergreens, and fresh roses.
The result is a landscape that feels cleaner, more balanced, and provides season-long color while improving the overall curb appeal of the home.
Project Overview
The existing landscape no longer matched the appearance the homeowner wanted. We began by removing the ornamental grasses and existing bushes to create a clean slate for the new design.
To give the landscape a fresh look with year-round interest, we installed:
Double Play Doozie Spirea
Linesville Arborvitae
New Rose Bushes
This combination provides a nice balance of evergreen structure, colorful blooms, and varying textures throughout the growing season.
Why We Chose These Plants
Every landscape should balance beauty, durability, and long-term maintenance.
Double Play Doozie Spirea
Double Play Doozie Spirea is known for its vibrant pink flowers that continue blooming throughout much of the season without requiring deadheading. Its compact size and colorful foliage make it an excellent choice for foundation plantings and landscape beds.
Linesville Arborvitae
Linesville Arborvitae provides year-round greenery and interest while helping create a layered landscape design. Their evergreen foliage adds structure during every season, including winter.
Roses
New rose bushes were incorporated to add classic color and texture while complementing the surrounding shrubs. When properly placed, roses provide beautiful seasonal blooms that become a focal point within the landscape.
The Finished Landscape
By replacing older plant material with a carefully selected mix of flowering shrubs, evergreen screening, and roses, this landscape now offers:
- Improved curb appeal
- Continuous seasonal interest
- Better plant balance and spacing
- Year-round evergreen color
- Long-lasting flowering shrubs
- A cleaner, more modern appearance
Small changes in plant selection can completely transform the appearance of a home’s front landscape.
