If you live in Northeast Ohio, you already know how fast overgrowth and weeds can take over, especially after a wet spring and summer.
What starts as a few weeds or briars can quickly become:
- Thick brush behind the house
- Fence lines disappearing
- Woods creeping into the yard
- Trails becoming unusable
- Tall grass full of ticks
- Areas that haven’t been touched in years
One thing we hear all the time at Cleaner Grounds is “I’m so glad we found you. I didn’t even know this was a service.”
A lot of homeowners don’t know who to call when a property starts getting overgrown. They search things like:
- Briar Removal
- Clearing out brush
- Overgrown backyard cleanup
- Clearing woods
- Tree line cleanup
- Brush Hogging
- Fence line clearing
- Trail creation
That’s exactly the type of work we do throughout Northeast Ohio.

Why Overgrowth Becomes a Problem So Quickly
In many Northeast Ohio neighborhoods and rural properties, wooded edges naturally spread outward over time.
In developments, homeowners often want the tree line pushed back to reclaim usable yard space.
In rural areas, brush and saplings slowly take over woods, trails, fields, and fence lines until they become difficult to walk through or maintain.
Many homeowners tell us
“We don’t even know where to start”
“This would take us months to clear out”
“My electric fence stopped working because of the brush”
“We haven’t been back there in years”
Once briars, vines, thick weeds, and saplings get established, normal mowing equipment usually can’t handle it anymore.

Ticks Are Becoming a Major Issue
One of the biggest reasons homeowners contact us is because of ticks.
Tall grass, overgrown brush, wooded edges, and neglected areas create the perfect environment for ticks to spread — especially around trails, fence lines, and the backs of properties.
We hear things like: “Our dog came back covered in ticks after running through the tall grass”
Clearing out overgrowth can help make areas feel cleaner, safer, and more usable again for kids, pets, and everyday use.

How We Clear Overgrown Areas
Depending on the project, we use equipment such as:
- Forestry Mulchers
- Skid steers with brush cutters
- Brush Hogs
- Chainsaws
- Hand Clearing Equipment
- Chippers
One of the advantages of forestry mulching is that much of the brush and debris can be processed directly onsite instead of the added expense of hauling away.
Depending on the customer’s goals, we can:
- Mulch debris into pieces
- Relocate debris onsite
- Chip the debris onsite (wood chipper)
- Haul the debris away

The Biggest Difference Is How Open the Property Feels Afterwards
One of the most satisfying parts of brush clearing is seeing how dramatically a property changes once the overgrowth is removed.
Homeowners are often surprised by:
- How much larger the yard feels
- How much cleaner the property looks
- How much easier it is to maintain
- How much usable space they have
Areas that once felt abandoned or impossible to manage suddenly become usable again.

Can you clear brush in the winter?
Absolutely as long as the ground is workable we frequently clear brush throughout the winter!
Can you move the debris to an area for me to burn it?
Definitely! We commonly move the cut debris into a different area onsite.
Why are there ticks getting on my pets?
The tall grass and brush areas of a yard are a ticks favorite place. If your pet is able to get into these areas its very likely that is where they are finding them.
Can you setup brush hogging on a schedule?
Yes! We typically will come 3 times a year (late spring, summer, and fall) to keep fields knocked down.
